Ms. Hicks White came to the Georgia Law Department from the DeKalb Magistrate court where she served as an Associate Magistrate for approximately 2 years while practicing with the firm of McLaughlin, Hendon, Miller and Croy. Ms. Hicks began her prosecutorial career as an Assistant District Attorney for the Griffin Judicial Circuit in 1991. She later served as an Assistant Solicitor in Dekalb County and as an Assistant District Attorney for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. During that time she prosecuted dozens of felony, misdemeanor and juvenile court trials, including theft, domestic violence, rape, armed robbery, arson, drug offenses, child molestation, aggravated battery and murder cases.
Ms. Hicks White attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a BS in Criminal Justice and Political Science in 1986 and a JD in 1989. Ms. Hicks White is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association. In June 2003, Ms. Hicks was sworn in as the first African American female to serve as president of the DeKalb Bar Association. She is the Chair of the Political Action Committee for Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and has served as its Parliamentarian. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Investigative Panel and Women in the Minorities Committee. Ms. Hicks White is a member of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2009, Leadership DeKalb’s Class of 2006, and Leadership Georgia’s Class 2002 where she also served on the Leadership Georgia Board of Trustees from 2004-2006. Ms. Hicks White is a member of the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Legal Diversity Consortium, a member of the DeKalb Lawyer’s Association, and served as a member of the Board of Directors for Safe Have Transitional, a domestic violence transitional center. Ms. Hicks White is a Silver Life Member of the NAACP. Ms. Hicks White is married to the Reverend Karl White and lives in Stone Mountain, Georgia with her two beautiful daughters, Victoria and Sydney.
